My Immigration Evaluation Training is scheduled for November 7, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 3:30PM EDT. This training is intended for Licensed Clinical Social Workers, including other fully licensed mental health professionals, including Licensed Professional Counselors,
(LPCs,) Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists(LMFTs), Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHCs), Psychologists, psychiatric nurse practitioners and private practice owners who are interested in developing the knowledge and skills necessary to conduct mental health evaluations for immigrants, immigrant survivors, and their families seeking immigration relief. The last day to register for the November 7, 2026 training is on November 2, 2026.

BOARD APPROVAL
Immigration Mental Health Evaluations, 6837, is approved by the Association of Social Work Boards (ASWB) Approved Continuing Education (ACE) program to be offered by S. Badger Empowerment and Consulting Services, LLC, as an individual course. Regulatory boards are the final authority on courses accepted for continuing education credit. ACE course approval period: 9/21/2026 - 9/21/2028. Social workers completing this course receive 3 general continuing education credits.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
Identify major forms of immigration relief available to undocumented immigrants including: Asylum, Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), Cancellation of Removal, Extreme Hardship, T and U Visas for victims of Trafficking.
Apply effective interviewing strategies to address psycho-legal questions while maintaining objectivity, neutrality, and impartiality.
Demonstrate best practices for working with interpreters.
Demonstrate best practices for evaluating immigrant children.
Identify and select appropriate evidence-based psychometric and assessment tools for immigration evaluations.
Apply ethical, professional, and culturally responsive practices to cross-cultural immigration evaluations.
Demonstrate strategies for preparing and providing expert witness testimony in immigration court.
Identify ethical strategies for establishing professional relationships with immigration attorneys without compromising forensic evaluator independence.
Analyze how current immigration laws and policies may impact immigration mental health evaluations and reports.
ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
Simona Badger, LCSW is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Forensic Social Worker, and educator with over 17 years of experience at the intersection of mental health and the legal system. She earned a Bachelor's degree in Sociology from Herbert H. Lehman College and a Master of Social Work from Fordham University Graduate School of Social Service, specializing in Clinical Social Work and Law. Ms. Badger conducts immigration mental health evaluations for asylum, VAWA, T Visa, U Visa, Extreme Hardship, and Cancellation of Removal cases. For over 17 years, she has provided specialized forensic mental health assessments and treatment to children and adults impacted by prolonged trauma, political trauma, economic hardship including survivors of domestic violence, sex trafficking, community violence, and torture. She has trained hundreds of mental health professionals nationwide and provides expert witness testimony in legal proceedings.
Delivery Method & System Requirements
This course is delivered as a live, interactive online webinar via Zoom. Learners will need a stable internet connection, a webcam- and audio-capable device, and an updated web browser compatible with Zoom.
Completion Requirements
To receive CE credit, learners must:
Attend the full live session (late arrival/early departure may affect eligibility)
Respond to attendance verification prompts (e.g., polls/check-ins) throughout the session
Complete the course evaluation form
Certificate Issuance
Certificates will be emailed within 48 hours will of successful completion of the attendance verification and course evaluation.
